You’ve stumbed upon one of two blogs by Mark Hall.

I’ve been writing (very) occasionally at this address since December ‘05. I also have an older TypePad blog @ mhallville.typepad.com. This blog is for posts about the Internet; the other is for politics and rants.

I work at a start-up with two three fine colleagues. Our service is called VodPod. We think it’s simply the best way to collect videos from around the web.

Before VodPod:

Progressive Networks then RealNetworks (1997-2004), where I developed popular online audio & video guides, launched our foray into subscription services, ran our international efforts on the consumer side, roughly in chronological order.

Corbis (1995-97), where I produced documentary-style CD-ROMs, one on FDR (permit me a quick boast, Walt Mossberg called it “brilliant”) and another on volcanoes, and also a companion website to Ken Burns’ film on Jefferson. A short, but very fun, job.

Microsoft (1993-1995), editor and producer (aka, entry level plebe) on Complete Baseball and Complete Basketball, both some of the original multimedia encyclopedias on CD-ROM. Claims to fame: sat across from the fish cafeteria for 6 months, and then moved to an office across the hall from Melinda French (now Gates).

And before all that, for a very brief moment in time that is hard for me to believe in retrospect, I worked as a lawyer.

I try to answer mail at mark AT remixation DOT com if you want to get in touch.
